Vom 31. Juli bis zum 2. August verwandelte sich das idyllische Rittergut Birkhof in Korschenbroich erneut in die Kulisse für das Grand Meeting (Classic Days). Über die drei Veranstaltungstage hinweg folgten knapp 30.000 Besucher der Einladung zur stilvollen Automobil-Gartenparty. Begünstigt durch hochsommerliche Temperaturen und strahlenden Sonnenschein bot das Gelände rund um das Rittergut den perfekten Rahmen für eine Zeitreise durch die Automobil- und Motorsportgeschichte.

Das Fahrerlager und die Ausstellungsflächen glänzten mit einer Vielzahl internationaler Motorsport-Legenden und prominenter Persönlichkeiten, die für Benzin-Gespräche, Sonderläufe und Autogramme zur Verfügung standen:

• Horst Lichter: Der bekannte TV-Moderator, bekennende „Car-Guy“ und leidenschaftliche Motorrad-Fan nahm aktiv am Event teil und fuhr u. a. in den Sonderläufen der Marke MV Agusta im Windschatten seines Idols Giacomo Agostini mit.
• Jacky Ickx: Die Rennsport-Legende und mehrfache Le-Mans-Sieger fuhr persönlich den historischen Dakar-Sieger-Mercedes G.
• Giacomo „Ago“ Agostini: Der 15-fache Motorrad-Weltmeister vertrat die historische Zweirad-Elite auf MV Agusta.
• Hans-Joachim „Strietzel“ Stuck: Als Publikumsliebling begeisterte die Rennsport-Ikone die Fans im Fahrerlager.
• Derek Bell: Der 5-fache Le-Mans-Gesamtsieger bereicherte die Gespräche und Expertenrunden.
• Freddie Hunt & Vanina Ickx: Die nächste Generation der Rennsport-Dynastien war durch den Sohn von F1-Weltmeister James Hunt sowie die Rennfahrerin Vanina Ickx („Daughter of Speed“) vertreten.
• Eckhard „Ecki“ Schimpf: Der Gründer und Kopf hinter den legendären Jägermeister-Rennfahrzeugen („72 Stagpower“).

• Ein historischer Jaguar-Sonderlauf anlässlich des Jubiläums „75 Jahre Le-Mans-Sieg“.
• Eine exklusive MV Agusta Sonderausstellung mit 25 historischen Rennmotorrädern und fahrdynamischen Vorführungen.

• US-Cars & Kultgut („Stars & Stripes“): Eine große Vielfalt an US-Klassikern mit V8-Motoren, ausladenden Heckflossen, Hot Rods und Street Rods.
• Lifestyle & Flair:

• Wirtschaftswunder-Klassiker der 50er/60er-Jahre („Lovely Heroes“).
• Stilechtes Nostalgie-Camping im Bereich „Nostalgic Journeys“.
• Die Moët & Chandon Champagner-Terrasse, Picknick-Wiesen, Live-Musik sowie ein sommerlich-eleganter Vintage-Dresscode der Besucher.

Zusammenfassend lässt sich festhalten, dass das Event am Rittergut Birkhof außerordentlich gelungen war. Auch wenn es in puncto Ambiente nicht ganz das Niveau der früheren Classic Days auf Schloss Dyck erreicht – da das Schloss noch eine Nuance opulenter wirkte als das Rittergut Birkhof und die dortige Allee die optimale Kulisse für die Präsentation historischer Automobile in Fahrt bot –, hat die Veranstaltung auf dem Rittergut Birkhof wieder ein hochklassiges Niveau erreicht. Insbesondere im Vergleich zu den Ausweichflächen auf den Messeparkplätzen in Düsseldorf, die für ein solch stilvolles Festival nicht gepasst haben. Hier stellt das Rittergut Birkhof eine hervorragende, stimmungsvolle und rundum würdige Heimat dar.

From July 31 to August 2, the idyllic Rittergut Birkhof in Korschenbroich once again transformed into the backdrop for the Grand Meeting (Classic Days). Over the three days of the event, nearly 30,000 visitors accepted the invitation to this stylish automotive garden party. Blessed with midsummer temperatures and bright sunshine, the grounds surrounding the estate provided the perfect setting for a journey through automotive and motorsport history.

The paddock and exhibition areas shone with a multitude of international motorsport legends and prominent personalities, who were available for shop talk, special demo runs, and autographs:

• Horst Lichter: The well-known TV presenter, self-proclaimed "car guy," and passionate motorcycle enthusiast actively took part in the event, riding in the special MV Agusta demo runs right in the slipstream of his idol Giacomo Agostini.
• Jacky Ickx: The racing legend and multiple Le Mans winner personally drove the historic Dakar-winning Mercedes G-Class.
• Giacomo "Ago" Agostini: The 15-time motorcycle World Champion represented the historic two-wheeler elite on MV Agusta.
• Hans-Joachim "Strietzel" Stuck: As a crowd favorite, the racing icon delighted fans in the paddock.
• Derek Bell: The 5-time overall Le Mans winner enriched the discussions and expert panels.
• Freddie Hunt & Vanina Ickx: The next generation of racing dynasties was represented by the son of F1 World Champion James Hunt, along with racing driver Vanina Ickx ("Daughter of Speed").

• A historic Jaguar special run celebrating the "75th Anniversary of Le Mans Victory."
• An exclusive MV Agusta special exhibition featuring 25 historic racing motorcycles and dynamic driving demonstrations.
• US Cars & Cultural Icons ("Stars & Stripes"): A wide variety of US classics with V8 engines, expansive tailfins, hot rods, and street rods.
• Lifestyle & Flair:
• Wirtschaftswunder (economic miracle) classics from the 1950s/60s ("Lovely Heroes").
• Period-accurate vintage camping in the "Nostalgic Journeys" area.
• The Moët & Chandon Champagne Terrace, picnic lawns, live music, and visitors dressed in stylishly elegant vintage attire.

In summary, the event at Rittergut Birkhof was an extraordinary success. Although it does not quite reach the atmosphere of the former Classic Days at Dyck Castle - given that the castle felt a touch more opulent than the Birkhof estate, and its avenue provided the ideal backdrop for showcasing historic cars in motion - the event at Rittergut Birkhof has once again achieved a top-tier standard. This is especially true when compared to the temporary alternative location at the Düsseldorf trade fair parking lots, which simply did not suit such a stylish festival. In contrast, Rittergut Birkhof offers an excellent, atmospheric, and altogether worthy home.
